BloodBike Stolen urgent funds required

THIS HAPPENED JUST LAST NIGHT

Last night we had another first at Blood Bikes Manchester one we had hoped would never happen but ,unfortunately did.

Early this morning our BloodBike “Wolfie” was stolen from outside the home of one of our on duty volunteers in Reddish Stockport. The bike and rider had already completed three jobs since the shift started but our four wheeled fleet had to be used for the rest of the night to ensure our service was continued.

It is difficult to understand the mentality of an individual or individuals who would steal a vehicle who’s sole purpose was being involved in helping people from their own community.

But to then dump it having damaged it by cutting off the camera and Scottoiler system plumbs new depths of depravity.

Fortunately our bike was fitted with a tracker so after some detective work from our Chairman we were able to find the bike and our very own man with the van Alan was despatched with the bike trailer to go out and recover the bike aided by our searchers.

These are just the initial superficial issues we can see in advance of our fleet manager giving more of his private ,precious family time to examine what other damage these idiots have inflicted on the bike.

This will leave our service short over the coming days and mean we may well have to refuse jobs impacting on those who need us most.

For this we are truly sorry and will do our best to return “Wolfie” back to the pack if at all possible as quickly as we can.

At present the damage is already running into hundreds of pounds which we just do not have lying around so will have to do more fundraising hours and activities just to correct the actions of these louts.
