Dave's Liver Transplant Fund
Donation protected
Update, 5/20/15: Dad has been in the hospital for the last three and a half weeks. He spent the first week and half in the ICU for sepsis. During this time he was intubated, sedated, and medicated to regulate his blood pressure and fight the infection.
He responded well to the treatment and was eventually transferred to a general medical floor where he was followed by his liver transplant team.
Dad's MELD score had increased from a 14 to 37 in the time he'd been hospitalized. Typically, patients are listed when their MELD is around 30.
The team was allowing for further treatment of symptoms including fluid retention, leg ulcers, lack of kidney function and immobility before placing him on The List.
While recovering Dad developed another infection, most likely from his dialysis port, and was placed back in ICU under the same conditions as three weeks ago.
Thoughts, prayers, positive vibes and energy are welcomed and greatly appreciated.
We are greatful for all the extra support provided in this difficult time.
Peace and love,
Stacee, Haylee, and Chrissy
A few months ago our father was diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the Liver/Liver failure. After multiple doctor's visits, testing, and a hospital stay it was determined that he is unable to be treated with medication and will require a liver transplant. He continues to adhere to a schedule including medical appointments (all of which are 50 miles away) and testing. Inspite of all this he continues to work as he is self-employed and relies on his income for financial stability. There will come a point when he will not be able to continue to work due to his illness and recovery process that a transplant will require. He currently has "off" days where he has trouble eating and keeping food down and other days when he feels well and forgets that he is ill.
We've set up this page to raise money to help offset the cost of medical appointments, travel, and other miscellaneous expenses that he will incur. As well as to provide a cushion for him when he does become unable to work. We thank you for your donations, love, and support.
