Big Boy Moby End of Life Care

Tax deductible
For the last few months, Infinite Hope Animal Rescue has helped 800 Kitties Rescue with trapping, transporting, and arranging medical help for a limited number of cats in a confined area. Their help has been super appreciated by 800 Kitties Rescue and their advice and patience with a new trapper has been extraordinary.

Recently, 800 Kitties and Infinite Hope trapped one of the stalwarts of the colony, Big Boy, also known as Moby or Mobius Fluffison.

Big Boy was about four years old. At some point, he fractured his leg and it healed on its own, which made Big Boy limp. For two years, Big Boy limped and unfortunately, he was not trappable. As a result, his coat was unkempt, and one could slowly see him degrade in health. Big Boy was sly, and taught other cats how to avoid traps.

When he walked into a trap on Wednesday, April 3rd, I knew he was bad off. He would never have allowed himself to be trapped otherwise. (He was also hungry after two days of not being fed to more easily trap him.)

Infinite Hope came to the rescue and immediately took him to All Creatures Animal Hospital. There it was found that his front left canine was broken at the root, he had jaundice, his belly was filled with fluid, and his poor little liver was in decline. I would have done anything to help that boy, but there was nothing to be done but put him out of pain. It broke my heart to no end.

As a rescue, Infinite Hope depends on the kindness of animal lovers. They paid the medical bill (bloodwork, x-rays on his leg and abdomen, painkillers, euthanasia) and 800 Kitties Rescue must pay them back. The bill came to $350, but with Go Fund Me fees, I have asked for $500 to cover the fees, give them back a little something extra, and cover some ASPCA fees that they have incurred by transporting members of the 800 Kitties colony.

As I write this, I can't stop crying about Big Boy. Please help me honor him by repaying the great kindness that Infinite Hope did for him.

More information about Infinite Hope Services Incorporated: Infinite Hope is an all-volunteer IRS-approved 501(c)(3) not-for-profit animal rescue located in the Boerum Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. Since its inception in early 2004, Infinite Hope has placed over 1,000 animals in permanent and loving homes. Because we are an all volunteer organization 100% of our funds goes towards the housing, care and placement of our animals.  Our Board and volunteers donate their time and resources toward the cause of caring for and finding homes for abandoned animals, eliminating the problem of stray, unaltered animals in New York City, and caring for special needs animals until a permanent or foster home can be found. While in our care, all of our animals receive high-quality food, shelter, positive interaction with our volunteers and all necessary medical care, including a complete vet exam, spaying and neutering, (if 5 months of age or older) and testing for communicable feline diseases (FIV and FeLV). We have a foster network so that our animals can receive care and attention until we have placed them with a loving and permanent home. All adopters are carefully screened. Volunteers spend time with potential adopters and available animals, to ensure a good match for all. We are committed to a 100% “no-kill" philosophy and will not accept animals beyond our capacity to care for them.
