We’re a newlywed couple in our early 30’s who wish to bring to you something we’ve taken for granted our whole lives… Bibi’s Masala Chai
We’re both proud British Asians from a strong Punjabi heritage that has travelled through our families from northern India to Kenya and Uganda and settled here in the UK in the early 1970’s. What also joined the family through these travels was our fantastic range of Punjabi/East African cuisine and traditional, authentic Masala Chai.
Our Bibi (grandmother) is said to be pivotal in the creation of the family chai and created the foundations of the recipe we have now. However, through each generation and as the family grew bigger, Bibi’s Masala Chai Recipe had new influencers who made further refinements that helped make it better and better over time. With a herb added here and a spice added there a beautiful blended mixture of 7 ingredients were infused to create what is now our perfect family brew.
In recent years Chai has become commonplace in all major coffee shops and many restaurants. Whether it’s a Chai Latte or super-sweet Chai tea, it doesn’t seem to come anywhere close to the flavours and satisfaction of drinking our Bibi’s Masala Chai. This is the reason we’ve decided to package up our family mixture and share it with you all.
It's the early stages of the business but what we really need is some financial support to kick start this project.
What we've done so far
Created the perfect mixture
Recipe refinement - weeks spent trying multiple spice combinations
brand and logo design mock ups - now currently in production
Product testing - blind taste test, competitor testing etc
Ingredient sourcing for suppliers
Registered website domain and in process of building up our website
How we plan to invest the money
Equipment - spice grinders, scales, mixer etc
Packaging - bags, containers, designs etc
Artwork - labelling, website assets
Labelling - creation and printing
Website - set up, design, functionality
Legal fees
Insurance
Rentals - of sites, equipment
Allergen and nutritional testing
