I am Philip Haywood. In my 35 years as head football coach at Belfry High School, I have learned that Belfry is more than a school; it's about tradition, family, and community. We have had some wonderful accomplishments, haven't we? Who will ever forget that 1st state championship in 2003? Do you remember where you were that day? We could fill pages with the accomplishments of our students from 1923 to the more recent graduates of our new state of the art high school. Belfry is about family and families not only celebrate, but also share things with each other.
I want to share a wonderful opportunity for you. We have raised over $100,000 to replace the turf on our football field. A field used by our baseball, softball and soccer teams in bad weather, our youth football teams, PE classes, and of course for Friday nights. We need your assistance to complete the project. I know you have a place in your heart for The Pirates and you would want the next generation to have what you had, that sense of belonging and success.
May I ask you a question? How often do you get a chance to make a difference in young people's lives, and to give back to the youth of a very special community? Belfry's success has always come from the sense of pride and spirit that touches the lives of all who have been a part of Belfry High School. As so many former alumni have said, "Once a Pirate, Always a Pirate." Let your Belfry family know you care. No gift is too small, none too great. You can be the one to put us over the top.
