The Rosa Project: Restoring Trust, one Spanish Hound at a Time.
I am asking for your help to cover the cost of transport and professional rehabilitation training for profoundly fearful Spanish Podencos.
I started the Rosa Project in 2016 to help Spanish Podenco Andaluz, "The Great Forgotten", find their way to loving homes. In 20 months we have successfully rehabilitated 5 terrified Podencos who were languishing in rescue centers in Spain, considered unadoptable due to their fearful behavior challenges. Rosa, Cezar, Joel, Malu, and Deia were each transported from their shelter in Spain to the US, where they began intensive individualized rehabilitation.
We have been 100% successful in restoring trust in these cruelly abandoned souls, and in finding permanent loving adopting homes for each of them.
The Rosa Project not only saves lives, it gives hope to the rescue community in Spain working every day in small, poorly funded shelters overwhelmed with dogs in need. It frees up desperately needed spots in these rescues. It proves that with experienced, individual rehabilitation, even the most abjectly fearful dogs can find trust again. Our social media platform, where the progress of each Rosa Project podenco is chronicled, has become a treasured educational resource for thousands of people struggling with fearful rescue dogs of all kinds in their homes.
Every dollar raised here will go directly to the cost of transport from Spain, and professional rehabilitation/training for Rosa Project dogs, averaging $2,000-$3,000 per dog. I personally cover all costs associated with daily care of each dog. The average length of rehabilitation has been 4 months.
Thank you for considering The Rosa Project. Follow us on Facebook or Google The Rosa Project to learn more.
