The Holy Comforter Could Use Our Help

Tax deductible
Hey y'all,

I'm Tom and I've lived in OP since 2007.

Disclaimer: I'm not associated with the Holy Comforter in any way other than using the dog poop facilities that they so graciously supply.

Now the pitch: I saw a Facebook post from the Vicar at HC about some folks dumping stuff in their construction dumpster and how they were going to have to pay to have it emptied. You see, the church had a tree fall on it and they're rebuilding the roof. So I thought maybe the people of our neighborhood could chip in a few bucks to help. I reached out to Alexis, the Vicar and asked how much they needed for the dumpster.  It turns out insurance didn't cover the entire cost of the repairs. In addition to the dumpster moola, there's repaving and deductibles. They're out a total of $5000 to get it fixed. One thing I love about our neighborhood is we all pull together to help. Remember the search for Pooh Bear? You know what I'm talking about! So chip in what you can and let's see what we can do for them. They're a solid member of the community. In addition to delicious bake sales, bbq's and plant sales, the Holy Comforter does some really great work with adults with mental illness. Here's some more information about the church - Holy Comforter has been a part of the Ormewood Park neighborhood since 1923. Since 1986 Holy Comforter has offered an inclusive day program for adults living with severe and chronic mental illness.  This community promotes the mental, physical and spiritual well being of people facing poverty and mental and physical health challenges.  Approximately 65% of Holy Comforter members are live below the poverty line in group homes throughout Atlanta. Holy Comforter provides a safe, loving, and welcoming environment to everyone that participates in the life of the community.

One last thing, they sit on a big corner lot. I'm sure they could have just packed it in and sold to a developer but they've chosen to stay. That's worth something in this neighborhood these days.

Thanks for reading,
Tom
