Help me start a tutoring center!

I was filling gas the other day when I noticed a For Lease sign on a space that I have passed a hundred times, and all of a sudden a message hit me loud and clear: START A TUTORING CENTER THERE.

I tried to push the idea out of my mind, but the message got louder.  Two days later, while I was on an airplane, I found myself in tears when I realized this project aligns with my passions in life: connecting teachers and learners, empowering through education, and pursuing personal growth.  At times I have felt somewhat aimlessly wandering through life, but I finally felt that all my endeavors have been stepping stones leading up to this moment.

I've already been tutoring for the ACT for 11 years, as well as a couple years of enrichment classes for young kids including toddler music and classes in the creative arts. I've been a teacher in public schools and charter schools.  It hasn't really been on my radar to open a center, but suddenly this opportunity has arisen, and I feel really compelled to take it.

I'd like to take my experience and expertise one step further.  I'd like to have a center that offers academic tutoring, but also a homework club where students can come together in the community and work with the help of a tutor or teacher.  I'd also like to offer enrichment classes in subjects like art, music, or creative writing, or even entrepreneurship or coding....the subjects that are often first cut from school programs.  I will also offer programs that make these services available to low-income and underserved students, as well as create a scholarship fund for college-bound students. Ambitious? Maybe.  Awesome? Definitely.

There will be study spaces, a classroom area, a reading nook, and private study rooms. I'd like it to feel like an extension of the home...a cozy space with soft chairs and lamps, a community where children can come learn and grow.

I am excited to build this space into a comfortable gathering place for the children of the Heber Valley. Your donation can help with the following:

$200 will sponsor a class to be taught

$175 will buy a whiteboard

$125 will donate a table and chairs to the space

$50 buys books for the reading library

$25 will buy art supplies

If you want to support me, the community of Heber, or just education in general, please consider helping me launch this exciting project.

THANK YOU.
