Support Glan and others to receive life-threatening treatment for Peritoneal cancer
Hello Everyone,
Thank you for taking the time to read this page, we have set this Go Fund page up to support our father and others who are in the same very unfortunate position.
Our dad met his consultant last week to be told his health had deteriorated and a drug called Bevacizumab(Avastin) is needed to treat his cancer condition, the drug is only funded for restricted use in the NHS, unfortunately, our father’s case is excluded from the funding.
As a family, we have agreed to undertake the treatment and pay every 2 weeks to give the best possible outcome available.
Our father’s cancer is called PERITONEAL.
Primary peritoneal cancer (PPC) is a rare cancer. It starts in the thin layer of tissue lining the inside of the abdomen. This tissue lining is called the peritoneum.
The peritoneum covers all of the organs within the tummy (abdomen), such as the bowel and the liver. It protects the organs and acts as a barrier to infection.
Bevacizumab is a targeted therapy drug used to treat different types of cancer, It is also known as Avastin.
Bevacizumab targets a protein called vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) that helps cancer cells grow a new blood supply. Targeting VEGF reduces the supply of oxygen and nutrients so that the tumour shrinks or stops growing.
The Bevacizumab treatment costs £423 every 2 weeks and continues for as long as it controls your cancer.
Having gone through major surgeries and numerous chemotherapies Dad has shown no signs of giving up through his tremendous resolve, determination, and courage, all with the greatest support from his family and friends.
Dad has also donated over £80k to charities himself over the last 40 years to various charities across South Wales.
Glan’s family would like to help their father and as many people as possible who don't receive funding for this life-saving drug.
Callum and Kyle will be walking from Dafen Park (Llanelli) to Tenby Beach in a day approximately 15 hours of walking and 45 miles to raise awareness.
Our family would be very grateful for any donations and for sharing this Go Fund page as widely as possible with your family, friends and through your networks.
Many Thanks
