Betzi Needs Your Help!

Donation protected
Betzi Ramona Last-name-in-flux-but-legally-it's-still-Jackson needs to raise $24,000 by February 28, 2024. Whew.

Betzi is the midst of a divorce while traversing some intense mental health terrain, both of which are awful. As a result, she and her catmonster, Django, are living in an unfinished, converted school bus tiny home which she and her ex built with the last of her savings over the last several years. But, divorce being what it is, in order to keep the bus--her only asset and home--Betzi needs $20,000 to buy her ex's half of it from him. She needs to raise an additional $4,000 to pay a divorce lawyer in order to wholesomely sever their financial ties at the time of the divorce. External financial and legal pressures demand that Betzi raise these funds by February 28, and she cannot do this without your help.

You probably know Betzi personally. Or, she's the dear friend of a friend or family member of yours. It's safe to say that if you got the link to this GoFundMe, you're aware of how beloved Betzi is by her community, and how very bad she is at asking for help. It can be hard to ask for financial support for personal emergencies in the midst of terrifying and heartbreaking national and global emergencies. But, damn. If we can't help each other out with the smaller emergencies, none of us will be left to keep meeting the big ones.

Betzi is currently farming with Common Name Farm in Colorado on land she shares with 12 horses, at least 2 cats, 1 small human, 2 grown up humans, a bunch of garlic plants and a ton of prairie dogs.

Here's a little more about her:
My name is Betzi Jackson, and although I was a founding member of Common Name at the beginning, I’ve been swept hither and thither these last few years. I have over a decade of growing experience, and I worked with Phil for over 4 years before meeting Noelle and the three of us dreamed up this act of love that is Common Name. Having grown up on almost an acre in Golden, CO, I read books under a tent-shaped pea trellis my parents built so I could have a little snack while I read (highly recommend) and was given my first knife to harvest wild asparagus at 7. I’ve learned since that the most essential foundation for any healthy community begins with reliable and equitable access to good food. I am deeply interested in herbal medicine and spend my evenings making salves, hanging out with the horses and reading sci-fi.
