Bettye B. Douglas passed away on August 4th, 2020 in Atlanta, Georgia. Bettye was predeceased by her husband Doug and is survived by her children Jason, David and Judy as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bettye received a Master Degree in Speech Pathology at the University of Miami. She worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in the Miami-Dade County Public Schools for many years. Bettye was chosen as the 1983 Miami-Dade County Teacher of the Year. She went on to be the Region Chairperson for Speech-Language Pathologists and Hearing Itinerant teachers in the South Central and Region V areas of the Miami- Dade County School District.

Bettye is remembered as an amazing mentor, friend and colleague. She loved her family and friends. She was also passionate about learning new information, trying new restaurants, traveling, volunteering at Montgomery Botanical Center and teaching Tai Chi. Her vibrant enthusiastic personality and contagious laugh will be dearly missed.

I have sponsored this page to honor Bettye's love of learning and passion to help others become a successful Masters level Speech Pathologist.  She was an advocate for anyone who wanted to advance their learning as a Speech -Language Pathologist. Your generous donation to The Bettye B. Douglas SLP Scholarship Fund will honor Bettye's life and bring assistance to students working to receive a graduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
