Help Get Betsy Back on the Road

My mother, Betsy, was diagnosed with CNS Brain Lymphoma in May 2016. Her battle with cancer this past year has been very difficult but we are excited that her last two MRIs have shown no changes to the cancer lesions on her brain. With her initial diagnosis, Betsy was not given very good odds due to the type of cancer and how aggressive we were told it was. Two of her treating oncologists told us that she "could" live 2 to 8 months (8 months with treatment and 2 without). This was 16 months ago! She underwent 4 intensive inpatient chemotherapy treatments and 25 radiation treatments. Betsy is a fighter and not even the cancer was strong enough to win against her will.
   In the past few months, Betsy has been working very hard to be independent. The cancerous lesions on her brain and subsequent treatments have compromised her memory and the way she interprets or understands things but she continues to hold strong.
   Because independence is so important to Betsy, she wants to be able to go to the store and her doctor's appointments by herself. She does not want to rely on others but she does not have a safe and reliable car. This independence is, to her and those of us who care for her, something that is significant to continuing the improvement to her quality of life. Since we do not know if or when the cancer will start to grow again, it is vital that she enjoy her life, in the now.
   As a family, we decided to set up this GoFundMe to ask for help in gathering the funds to purchase a safe and reliable car for Betsy. Her pride tried to discourage us from this effort but we want her to be free to do simple things like running to the store for milk or taking her dogs (Riley and Hendrix) to the park, on her own, without worry that she might be stranded.  However, due to Betsy's limited income, she believes there is no possibility of her ever being able to buy a car for herself.
  Help me change this for my mother. She has fought a tough battle. For Betsy to have a reliable car would be a blessing that would give her the independence she desires. It would add to the quality of her life as she continues to heal and show her that not all things are impossible.
