Hello I’m Betina Wilks,

On Tuesday December 4th 2018, I came home to my property in Bungadoo, near Gin Gin QLD to find that my home had been severely damaged and other buildings destroyed by a destructive storm and tornado.

I haven’t had much luck since I moved to Queensland.

In 2013 my property was severely flooded.
In 2016, a fire destroyed my home.
And now a tornado impacted my home.

I have a disability, but despite this I continue to work and support drought affected farmers in Queensland and New South Wales.

I rely on my Lucerne tree farm as income.

My work with my trees gives me so much enjoyment, but this has now been destroyed. The building that housed my growing trees was ripped to shreds.

My transport trailer was thrown 200 metres and was destroyed. Large parts of my home have succumbed to widespread damage.

Our stock yard fences for our 50 head of cattle were toppled, and the water pump and shed, dairy and other various workshops and sheds either destroyed or damaged.

There is insurance for the house and contents, but not for everything else.

A few friends have come to help with the clean-up, but I don’t know where to begin

I sent my photos to Higgins Storm Chasing to share what happened to me, but never expected them to help me like this. Jeff and his team have helped make me a Go Fund me page and sent though a donation thanks to the support of his customers.

I am not one to ask for help, but Higgins Storm Chasing are suggested the idea and are helping me through this process. I and my sister and grateful for the help.

All my life, I have given support to others without any expectation of return.

I am at loss to know how to rebuild and don’t have the money to do so.

I would greatly appreciate the help of others during this difficult time and any support would be welcomed.
