Bethany's campaign for COELIAC UK

Tax deductible
Please help our 7 year old daughter Bethany raise money for Coeliac UK.

She is taking on a challenge of doing 365 laps of our local bike track - 1 lap for each day it has been since her younger sister Jessica was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease.

Exactly a year ago our youngest daughter Jessica, then 19 months old was admitted to hospital.

In the run up to her being admitted she had lost so much weight she was back down to the weight she was at 11 months old. Physically she was bloated, lethargic, sick on a daily basis, clearly in pain and had lost her balance and ability to walk without looking unsteady. She no longer wanted to eat, she became quiet and subdued and was nothing like the bubbly happy care free little girl we were used to!

After nearly 2 weeks in hospital having a whole range of tests & scans we were given the diagnosis of Coeliac Disease, an autoimmune disease she will have for life. It can be controlled through a gluten free diet but doesn't come without the risk of other issues later in her life.

Bethany is a fantastic big sister and is always looking out for Jess and will regularly check that the food she is eating is 'safe.' She wants to do something and give back to the charity that provides much needed support to the Coeliac community especially in the current climate where many charities are struggling to raise funds as they normally would.

Thank you for reading our story x
