Beth's Cesarean and Heartworm Treatments

Beth came to Barks and Meows Rescue from a shelter on May 22 at the age of one.  She was pregnant and heartworm positive.  She was 15lbs and carrying 6 puppies.  Unfortunately, she had to have a cesarean due to her small stature and to lessen the burden on her heart by no having to go through the labor process.  The cost of this operation was $700.  Two of the puppies did not survive.  All pups were weaned by Mommy Beth and eventually adopted out.  Now Beth is incurring her Heartworm treatment.  It is a very invasive procedure but it is vital as the number of heartworms in her system is huge.  The treatment is done over a two month period and then 6 months later, she will be tested to ensure she no longer has Heartworm.  The cost of this treatment is $1,300.
