Bernie's Knee Surgery Fund

Oh Bernie man! This sweet boy was found in an abandoned vehicle in Burien and rescued by Burien CARES. Once Bernie was adoptable, they posted him on Facebook. We instantly fell in love! This grumpy little guy needed a home and I just knew that we were it. We went and picked him up the next day and the rest is history!

Or so we hoped. Our little guy was neutered and got an awful infection at the neuter site, so we started him on antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. He also has a pretty severe case of Medial Patellar Luxation, meaning his little knee caps pop in and out when he walks, which causes pain. So much so that he usually holds up his left hind leg. So we thought, who else will give him the treatment he needs? Bernie's neuter infection is all healed and he's doing pretty great, but every day we can tell his little knees are hurting him, and he needs surgery to have this remedied. We just need some help with funding. The veterinarian quoted us, just for surgery, about $3500. Which is daunting. We've also spent about $400 on pre-op x-rays and he still needs bloodwork before we can proceed with surgery, which will put us over $4000 total, not including post-op medications and any further treatments he might need. We have pet insurance for Bernie, but because this condition is pre-existing to his policy, he won't have coverage for anything related to his surgery.

We know this is a lot to ask, but we want Bernie to have the best life he can, and with your help, he can get there. There is a potential surgery date for 6/21/2018, so the funds for this surgery can't come soon enough. Any donation will go straight to the veterinary hospital for Bernie's care. We will be forever grateful for any help you can provide.
