Hi Friends and Family, it's Emma & Aaron. Everyone's favourite feral little panther is sick,. Earlier this week he unfortunately got rushed into the emergency vet with a blocked urethra and he has been diagnosed with "Idiopathic Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease". Initial hope was that he would need a catheter and that would resolve his issues. Unfortunately, after 3 catheters and a whole bunch of medications, the emergency vet has exhausted all options. Bernie was insured but after 5 days in the emergency vet, 3 catheters, x-rays, IV fluids and all the treatment so far we have now exhausted his insurance limits. We are now being left with the choice of emergency surgery for a Perineal Urethrostomy or euthanasia. Bernie is our baby so we don't consider the 2nd proposal an option. We have received a quote for £7k for the surgery in a specialist hospital in Bristol and then there would be additional charges for aftercare, medications and ongoing vet visits with the specialist.
