Help the Bernardi's

As many of you know, Michael was diagnosed with end stage liver failure last year, and this past year has been a struggle for him and his family. Michael was “forced” to take an early retirement as he has been too sick to work, and unfortunately, his retirement pay is not anywhere near what his actual pay was. Many of their bills are delinquent, including their mortgage, and they desperately need some help to get them through the next few months so that they can all focus on getting Michael better.

Currently Michael is in critical condition in the ICU at UMASS Memorial, waiting for a new liver. He is at the top of the list and we pray that it comes in time. Now that Michael is in the hospital for an unknown amount of time, Lori is cutting back her hours at work so that she can juggle going to the hospital, taking care of Michael AND 11 year old Emerson, and managing the house and all that goes along with that. She has gone from a 2 parent household and the life she and Michael built together, to praying that her husband lives,  that their utilities won’t be shut off, and that they have a house for Michael to go home to after he gets the transplant.

We weren’t sure how much to ask for, and I can tell you Lori struggles with asking for anything, but desperate times call for desperate measures. If you could spare any amount, please know that it will be greatly appreciated. And whether you can contribute or not, please help us spread the word to friends and family you think might want to help a family in need.  I am sure once Michael wakes up and knows that he doesn’t have to worry about the financial burdens that have been adding to his daily stress, and that he can just concentrate on healing, he will thank you too.
