Beren’s medical costs

Beren is an almost 2 year old Boston Terrier . He is the sweetest, most loving pup you could imagine. Unfortunately back in June we found out he has scoliosis, and a couple malformed vertebrae. Then in July he started having seizures. He did well on Keppra for a few months but recently he’s been having a lot of breakthrough seizures. 

We’ve added phenobarbital to his daily meds but that wasn’t enough  on Monday he had at least 5 focal seizures in under 24 hours. The emergency diazepam I gave him to prevent lore seizures didn’t work. So I took him to the emergency vet where he had to stay overnight and through most of the following day. The tests and care he got cost over $1,000.  

We are now increasing his phenobarbital again, adding cbd and planning to start on a specialized medicine called Neurocare. The food isquite expensive and was very hard to find, but I did find it.  Now we are trying to schedule an MRI of his brain  this is going to cost at least$2,500. We will have to drive to a clinic over an hour away to do it too.

Normally I wouldn’t ask for help but all of these bills are really adding up. I do have pet insurance that will reimburse me for much of the costs, but there is a lot they don’t pay for. I’m in a tough financial situation right now. I was unemployed for a few months earlier this year so I’m trying to get back on my feet from that still. I’m just asking for a little help to cover some of the costs to help my sweet boy. This is really hard for me to do but he’s worth it.

my stinky little man is just amazing. He’s so full of love and life. My vet calls him “perfect” and a “con artist” because he has the amazing ability to convince everyone at the vet clinic that he needs to be cuddled and carried all the time. He even did that at the emergency vet this week.
