Benson “Benji” Jordan Cheney

On Friday, the 19th of April 2024, Ruby and Dan excitedly welcomed their beautiful twin boys, Alfred “Alfie” James Cheney and Benson “Benji” Jordan Cheney, into the world. Born at 35 weeks, the twins were strong and healthy, and Dan and Ruby were getting ready to take their boys home to start their amazing life together as a family of four.

Late on Sunday afternoon, the 21st of April, Benji’s health suddenly declined. He was put back into special care for monitoring and testing. The decision was made to fly Dan and Benji to Sydney, but just as a precaution. Once in Sydney, they decided to operate on Benji, where they realised there was nothing they could do for their special boy. He was put on life support while Dan sat and stared at his little mate, waiting for Ruby to be discharged from Orange to join them. On Monday, Ruby was driven to Sydney, Alfie travelled by ambulance, and family rushed down to be at Benji’s bedside. At 5:30pm on Monday the 22nd of April, Ruby and Dan had to make the impossible decision to take Benson off his life support and let him gain his beautiful angel wings to fly to heaven.

This GoFundMe page has been established to support Dan and Ruby with funeral costs for Benson, any unforeseen expenses they may be faced with, and to help give Alfie the best start in life as possible without his sidekick. Alfie’s name has since been changed to Alfred “Alfie” Benson Cheney in honour of his late brother.
