Benefiting Lance Hilger
Donation protected
Lance, a 7 year old from Beaumont TX, was just diagnosed with a rare disease called “X-linked Adrenoleukodystrophy.” (X-ALD) is a genetic disease that affects the nervous system and the adrenal glands (small glands located on top of each kidney). People with this disease often have progressive loss of the fatty covering (myelin) that surrounds the nerves in the brain and spinal cord. Right now Lance is spending his time in Texas Children’s Hospital. He will need a bone marrow transplant. Doctors are also discussing having him transported to Minnesota where the TOP doctor for this disease is located. Unfortunately, Medicaid will not cover him being transported or for the bone marrow transplant. He is already starting to show signs of how aggressive this disease is. There is no cure but the transplant will help slow the process so he is needing this as soon as possible. If you could help the family in any way it would be greatly appreciated because every little bit helps.
