Benefit Concert for Refugees
Donation protected
Hi everyone!
My name is Avik Sarkar, and I'm a junior at Buckingham Browne and Nichols (BB&N). I'm a young musician studying at the New England Conservatory (NEC). In May, I receieved a grant from From the Top to organize a benefit concert for refugees in the Boston area.
Concert Details:
Date: January 19th, 2018
Time: 7:30 PM
Location: First Church in Cambridge, MA
I'm fund-raising for the Boston Center for Refugee Health and Human Rights (BCRHHR), which provides legal and medical aid to refugees living in the Boston area.
I hope that you will consider donating to BCRHHR. 100% of donations will go directly to the center, and any amount can have a huge impact. For example, $20 allows one person to attend their medical appointments, $60 allows one person to talk to a family member in their home country once a month for a year, and $100 covers the cost of three professional outfits for two people to wear for job interviews and work.
BCRHRR's parent organization is the Boston Medical Center (BMC), whose tax ID is 04-3314093.
My grandmother was a refugee from Bangladesh, and, coming from an immigrant background, this cause is very important to me. The goal of this concert is to listen to the stories of and foster a human connection with refugees living in Boston. I hope to bring awareness to their art and culture by incorporating music from their countries into the concert. The program will also premiere my original string quartet, which features the voices of Boston-area refugees.
Thank you so much!
Avik
