Rudy and Ann's sister and family

My sister Allison, her husband Steve and their two children, Zac and Kimberly, lost their house to flood waters last night after Hurricane Florence. The Bender Family lives in Burgaw, North Carolina. When Steve left the house  there were 2 inches of water in the house. The waters have been rising steadily all day. They won't know what is damaged until the Cape Fear River recedes in a few weeks.

It takes a while for the river to go down. They weren't able to get a truck there in time. All of their possessions are inside. Allison and Kim came to New York with a small suitcase and their two dogs. They will need money to rebuild and renovate their house, pay for temporary housing, buy clothing, furniture, and household items. All funds will go towards these needs and will be deposited into an account in their name . I don't yet know how much they will need at this time.

Allison is an elementary school teacher in a local school district and Steve works for a car dealership in Wilmington. Zac and Kimberly are in college. The Benders regularly lend a helping hand to those at work, school and in their neighborhood and are very grateful for all the support they have received back at this very difficult time.
