Bench in Memory of Lee Gach

Lee Gach was an amazing person to so many. You didn't have to know Lee very long to fall in love with him yourself. His big smile was contagious- it would cheer up anyone he came in contact with. Whether he was making jokes that you may not have understood completely due to his lovable little accent or simply just being the goofball that he was, he, at all times, made sure you were having fun and he most certainly made sure you knew he loved you.
Lee and his sister were dealt an unfair hand early in life, but fortunately, they were adopted from England and moved to Long Beach, NY at a very young age. His parents did everything to make sure they both grew up knowing they were loved in every way. Lee was the best big brother and extremely protective of his younger sister Lauren his entire life, so much so, that his best friends became her big brothers as well.
He also loved animals, especially his dog, sorry "his best gal", Penny. He loved her so much he even had matching soccer jersey's made for them to wear when they would watch the games together.
Lee was an all-star athlete at a young age, he could outplay you in anything after only trying it once. He loved soccer, that was #1 for him, but by high school he became an all star in ice hockey as well. He played for the Long Beach HS varsity ice hockey team and helped them win their very first NYS Championship at the age of 16.
Sadly, at the age of 29, Lee’s battle with depression became too great, and we had to say goodbye to him way too soon. There isn't a day that goes by that we don't think about him and that big smile of his that lit up any room. We live in a small town, where each time someone passes away mostly everyone is affected and Lee’s passing was no different.
We are raising money to purchase a bench for the Long Beach boardwalk in Lee’s memory for his friends & family members to have a place to go to keep him in their thoughts and prayers.
