Ben B. v. Harvard Law School

Donation protected
Ben B. was wrongly strong-armed out of Harvard Law School and kept on a years-long leave of absence by an HLS administrator who ultimately resigned following substantiated allegations of misconduct. Along the way, that same administrator refused, for no good reason, to give Ben the routine paperwork he needed to reluctantly transfer to (or restart studies at) any other law school or graduate / professional school, and as a result deprived him of his education for three years and counting.

He's fighting back and suing Harvard Law - but needs to raise funds to do it. A law firm willing to represent Ben has been identified, subject to raising the necessary funds. An article was recently written about this situation, at https://karlstack.substack.com/p/harvard-lie-school .

Background:

This is a fund for legal expenses for Ben as he pursues litigation against Harvard Law School, in response to the disturbing events described in an article  by Daily Caller / Substack journalist Christopher Brunet (see https://karlstack.substack.com/p/harvard-lie-school).

In May 2018, a group of Harvard Law School administrators, led by its now-former Dean of Students Marcia Sells (who had been the subject of complaints from many students before), falsely stated that Ben had told the school's registrar that he would not be taking final exams, and placed him on an involuntary academic leave of absence.

An audio tape reviewed by Substack journalist Chris Brunet / Karlstack later proved that Sells and other administrators knowingly lied. Their statements about Ben were false, and they knew that their statements were false when they made them. The audio was shared with senior HLS and Harvard University leadership, as well as with over 100 HLS faculty, in December 2020, and Sells resigned in mid-February 2021.  To this day, neither HLS nor Sells herself deny that Sells lied.

It gets worse.

Sells and certain other Harvard Law School administrators:

• sent Ben letters on HLS letterhead telling him that he could not contact others about the situation (both at Harvard or even outside of Harvard) if he ever wanted to return, and even told him he could not contact any former Harvard faculty or staff (see letters linked to the Substack article);

• wrongfully denied Ben routine paperwork he needed (and still needs) to transfer out or to re-start his studies at any other law school (or other professional or graduate school);

• and kept Ben on involuntary leave, semester after semester, for over three years.

Ben has now lost over three years of his education and career. He will continue to lose additional years of his education and career unless and until HLS administrators acknowledge the situation and allow him to resume his studies. It has become clear that this will require litigation, as HLS is now ignoring the situation altogether, ignoring Ben's requests to meet, even via Zoom.

Please donate what you can to this important effort.

Thank you.

P.S.: The comments on the photo on the left are from over twenty members of Ben's first-year section, from a voluntary and anonymous exercise from Ben's spring semester (Spring 2018), in which section members privately submitted comments about their fellow section members.
