Beltran's Harvey Relief Fund!
Our Story
I'm Linzy Beltran and I'm raising money on behalf of my parents. Fortunately, my parents were able to stay at my place in Austin, Texas during Hurricane Harvey, but they returned home to a house that was heavily hit by flooding.
Harvey devastated Houston on August 26 with massive rainfall and unfortunately flooded my parents' home of 20+ years. My family began working on the house a week later and while the damage wasn't completely destructive, it damaged a lot of the small house and deemed it unlivable for a while. Replacing the hardwood floor with something that is flood-resistant will cost about $10,000 based on initial bid received from a flooring company. Additionally, we need to purchase supplies to replace 2 feet of drywall and sheetrock that had to be removed to avoid molding along the entire house.
How You Can Help
My dad is 71 years old and retired and both of my parents live on my mom's small income. Funds raised will be used to avoid my dad to use his retiremement money to fix the only house they've called home in the States.
How We Will Use The Money
My parents will use the money to purchase and hire a contractor to install sheetrock and insulation. They will also use the money to add concrete and tile to the floor as we had to remove the hardwood floor that risked molding. My parents will be the direct beneficiaries in mid-September as work begins on the house (and the house dries). Oh the humidity!
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
