Bellaire Pound Supplies

*2/2/21 UPDATE* PLEASE FOLLOW US ON FACEBOOK FOR REAL-TIME UPDATES AT "FRIENDS OF THE BELLAIRE POUND"! A huge THANK YOU to all our loyal supporters and friends! We at Friends of the Bellaire Pound (FOBP) have joined Marlene officially on this fundraiser to give it a pepstart again :-) We are beyond grateful for the outpouring of donations! We are hoping for one final push to get us to the $5,000 mark! Can you help? As an update, FOBP is finally working on getting our 501c3 non-profit status and all the paperwork/filing fees that go along with it! We are SO EXCITED! This current round of fundraising will help us cover our professional and filing expenses, and then your next round of donations will be tax-deductible at last!! We've gotten great new support and encouragement from the City of Bellaire Mayor and City Manager, as well as incoming Chief of Police, and have started the process for getting pound improvements underway, including the fence. Some the city will pay for, and others your wonderful donations will cover.

Additionally, we will be drawing some of the funds to reimburse volunteers for expenditures (like a true organization!). One of our awesome founders spends countless paychecks picking up extra supplies for the dogs, getting them their traditional "welcome" hamburgers as a tasty treat to take the edge off the pound experience, as well as gas and mileage on her vehicle driving the dogs all over Houston and surrounding areas to appointments, rescue groups, foster homes and meet/greets. This is on top of the two jobs she works! We can't thank everyone enough for their support, to where we are now in a position to begin reimbursing for pound volunteer expenditures.

Last but not least, we have received a wonderful new pound pup, Khalisi, a white Husky mix. She is sweet as can be and only a year old, but unfortunately is heartworm POSITIVE. Can you help us raise money for her treatment? Heartworm is an entirely treatable (and preventable) condition, but VERY expensive. We are hoping to entice a rescue group by offering funds to assist in the treatment for our sweet pup! She deserves a great life and a healthy start on her way. She loves people, and you can hear her crying from the outdoor pound day and night. PLEASE HELP US GET HER OUT OF THERE ASAP! IT'S BREAKING OUR HEARTS!

FINANCING NOTE: We always want to be clear with our intended use of your valuable donations! Because we are still awaiting our 501c3 filing paperwork to be completed to be an official "organization," we currently operate out of a personal (but completely separated) savings account held by one of our two founders and used only for FOBP expenditures. We will be transferring the money initially to this account and dispensing it from there. Once we have our non-profit status, we will be opening a new bank account in our organization's name, and transferring any remaining funds over to start our new account! If you have any questions (financial or otherwise), feel free to email us anytime at friendsofbellairepound (@gmail.com) -- THANK YOU!

From Marlene, the organizer: The funds raised on this Go Fund Me will go towards updating the facility. We really need our residents to help us raise the funds to make a difference. I am currently working with the Bellaire Police Department. I truly, from the bottom of my heart, appreciate everyone who has donated. The pound needs a little help and together we can make it happen.

I am an animal lover and a resident of Bellaire. Recently I have read several posts on Nextdoor about the concern of the Bellaire Pound’s building. Several people on Nextdoor have expressed the need to increase awareness. From what I have read, there is one officer that comes daily to feed the animals. Apparently when it rains; it floods, which puts the animals at risk. Let’s raise money to improve the conditions in which these animals live before they find a forever home.

Let’s come together as a community and provide these animals with a little comfort of “home” while they are staying at the
