The Bekoko Project: Empowering Women, Sustainably!

Donation protected
Hello world, let me pitch you about The BEKOKO Project,

A few years ago, I decided to repurpose a piece of land in Cameroon that had been in my family for quite some time, located at the intersection of the English-speaking and French-speaking regions, often referred to as Africa in Miniature.

The purpose of this project is to empower women in the area by constructing essential infrastructure such as a well-bore, a double greenhouse, a training lab, a workshop, and a classroom. Through these facilities, women will learn about sustainable agriculture practices and how to capitalize on them.

As of today, 60% of the Cameroonian population is under 35. The primary objective is to free young women from the burdensome and labour-intensive agricultural practices that have dominated their lives for decades. By implementing a greenhouse, we aim to significantly increase their annual crop yields, potentially multiplying them by 2 or 3 times their current output. Moreover, this entire project will be carried out in a sustainable manner, prioritizing environmental consciousness. The greenhouse will contribute to water conservation efforts and eliminate the need for chemical fertilizers.

We have already commenced the construction process, diligently laying each brick.

Simultaneously, we are working towards expanding their distribution channels across the country. Additionally, our intent is to establish a partnership with the first domestic manufacturer of solar vehicles, and we have already made a deposit for an electric cargo three-wheeler.

The proceeds generated from this endeavour will serve two significant purposes. Firstly, they will ensure that four women earn at least twice the legal minimum wage. Secondly, for the third consecutive year of the program, the funds will cover the full tuition fees of thirty-five young women attending secondary school, expanding significantly from the initial group of thirteen girls.

Key milestones have already been achieved: distribution channels and potential buyers, including wholesalers, restaurants, and mini-markets, are on board. Currently, the program is operating at its peak across selected schools.

However, the financial resources currently available to us are limited. Therefore, we sincerely hope that your support will enable us to pursue our endeavours. By joining our efforts, you will play a vital role in making the world a better place. These women and young ladies will be able to envision a brighter future. We invite you to donate and help us spread the word so that these women can become self-sufficient and well-equipped for their journey ahead.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.
