Beirut Explosion Food and Shelter for Mounira

Donation protected
My name is George. I am a British citizen living in London and yesterday my best friend in the world, an old lady called Mounira Koro, saw her world fall to pieces when the Beirut bomb destroyed her home. I have known Mounira for many years since I met her selling flowers on the street in central Beirut. Mounira (75) was living in a tiny ramshackle studio (you can see this in her photo) and although she was poor, she was happy with her dog Bella. Thankfully Bella survived the explosion. Mounira never married and so has no husband or children to help her and I am at a loss to know what I can do to help her find somewhere to sleep at night right now.  Mournira worked hard her whole life - she used to run a little flower stall on the street and it kept her going, but now this is all lost. The explosion has left her on the street with the clothes on her back.  I know Beirut very well, I used to visit there from when I lived in Dubai. That is how I met Mounira - she sold me flowers and we got chatting and ever since then, our friendship has blossomed.  We WhatsApp all the time, we do video calls and I just love her to pieces.  Gofundme instructions say I have to estimate the costs, which is hard to do because she has nothing. Right now, I just want her to be able to somehow put down enough for a couple of months' rent somewhere further away from the blast so that can pick up the pieces of her life. And, obviously, enough money for food and dog food!  Today she is still in  Achrifiya in Beirut (centre of the city) going through the remains of her flat and I am praying that she can find somewhere to sleep tonight and that today somebody gives her food. This is something I never thought would happen to a city I adore and a lady I love so much.  I would like to send her some funds as soon as possible because she is desperate. Anything at all that you can give, even pennies, will go a long way to helping her. And at the very least, put a smile on her face during this horrible time.  Right now my intention is to send her the money by bank transfer.  Branches are still operating on the other side of the city and in the other cities like Byblos or Jounieh, so I know that I can get cash to her.  For transparency, I will need to use my own passport ID when I go to the bank and likewise, she will provide her ID card when she goes to the bank in Beirut. You can also email me at [email redacted]  Thank you - so much.  George
