BEE TOUGH FOR TUBBY
Mike, also known as Tubby, was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease (MND) in early January 2020. MND describes a group of diseases that affect the nerves in the brain and spinal cord that tell your muscles what to do. This leads the muscles to weaken, stiffen and waste.
Mike has always lived a healthy, active lifestyle. He was a successful rugby player, most recognised for playing for Aberavon RFC, Neath RFC and Glynneath RFC. Since retiring from rugby he has always been an active member of the local community through coaching rugby at all ages and being a member of Glynneath RFC committee. He was also a keen cyclist and mountain walker and now has a great enthusiasm for Bee Keeping. But unfortunately Mike is now facing his biggest challenge yet and we need your help!
To support Mike in maintaining the best quality of life with MND we wish to raise the funds to get him to America for clinical trials. Currently, no effective treatment exists for 5,000 sufferers of MND in the UK. We would like to ensure Mike has best chance to live a fulfilled life and give him as much independence as possible.
