A man so many people loved, received a heartbreaking diagnosis in May of 2019. Our friend, Charlie Null, was diagnosed with stage IV Glioblastoma brain cancer. Charlie and his family fought a long, exhausting, and painful battle. For 18 months, they endured intense medical treatments which included: diagnostic testing & scans, chemotherapy, radiation, multiple surgeries, extended ICU & hospitals stays, dialysis, rehabilitation, and countless other medical interventions. After a courageous battle, Charlie passed peacefully, at home, on November 7th, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.
Charlie leaves behind his wife Melissa of 30 years and his 3 amazing children Sydney, Christian & Cameron. In addition, he leaves a lifetime of love, laughter and great memories for his family, many friends, neighbors, and coworkers. It is hard to imagine life without this man who was such a fun and carefree guy who made each of us feel special.
“Bedrock” was a nickname given to Charlie by some of his closest friends. Charlie’s mom made “Bedrock Strong” bracelets for people to wear to show their support. Little did we know, the irony of the “Bedrock” nickname. It became the foundation and very strength needed to cope with this cancer diagnosis. The Null family is extremely grateful for, and humbled by, the support of family and friends. The cards, letters, phone calls, text messages, personal visits, rides to appointments, meals and prayers were incredibly helpful during this agonizing battle.
Charlie was the kind of man to help people in his community and now his family needs help from all of us. His devastating diagnosis has left them with enormous expenses and debt. The goal of the “Bedrock Strong” GoFundMe campaign is to raise funds to lessen this tremendous financial impact on them.
