Bedford & Hammond Plains Minor Baseball Support

By now most of you know that on Friday, July 21 the flash floods that covered a great deal of Nova Scotia impacted Bedford and destroyed a lot of infrastructure, baseball equipment and canteen supplies that are used by both Bedford and the Hammonds Plains Minor Baseball Associations. This includes the canteen and storage facility at the Joan and Robert Lenihan fields. Both associations use these facilities and run programming for participants 9 to 24. Unfortunately, the canteen and equipment are uninsured for flooding due to being on a floodplain. Though we have not been able to get down to assess at this time due to obvious reasons we anticipate the main fridges, freezers, canteen supplies and equipment will not be able to be salvaged. We anticipate the whole building will need to be gutted due to the water damage and electrical work will need to be redone. We just purchased a tractor to drag fields and that is in one of the equipment sheds, we are not sure but this may also need to be changed. Since we did get in and were able to assess most of the damage we have lowered our required amount.

As such, we are reaching out to the communities impacted, current and previous association players and members, and anyone wishing to support what has been a devastating impact on our associations so that the fields and equipment can be restored. The funds raised will be used to repair the canteen and replace the baseball uniforms, equipment and supplies lost that were stored at the various facilities in Hammonds Plains and Bedford.
