I'm looking to raise money for the cost of top surgery to transition from Female to Male. I am transgendered and from my very beginnings felt at odds with my body. For many years I looked at my feminine features as grotesque and not complimentary to how I felt inside. I recall dressing as a boy from age 5 and defying my parents' wishes for who they thought I ought to be (a little girl).

To this day I feel the same. From the core of my being I know that I am not a woman, and have known this for years, but within a small and conservative community I had to hide under the guise of a female identity and hate my body in doing so. I have spent many nights considering what to do. I wondered if I could pull it off but in the research I put in the last 10 years, I've found that FTM top and bottom surgeries are very pricey.

I have a consultation with Dr. Raphael in Plano, Texas on Nov. 10th for top surgery. The cost of surgery is $6000 flat, this includes all fees. He is pretty famous for ftm surgery and is said to have a soft spot for transmen. The price is incredibly reasonable in comparison to top surgery in other states. I'm comforted to know he is an expert plastic surgeon and finds working with transpeople to be rewarding. Shortly after my consultation I'll be scheduled for surgery so the clock is ticking!

So...enough is enough!

I know I cannot pretend anymore, I want to feel confident in who I am and how I present my gender. The strife this will create within my family is inevitible but that's a small price to pay to become at peace with my body. I am lucky to have very supportive friends and partner, and hope that I can raise the funds necessary for this surgery. I hope also to serve others in achieving peace with their own gender issues. I will serve as a model of functionality, humanity and show my peers and hopefully the world that being transgendered is rare but normal and nothing to be fearful of. Most importantly I can pass on the message of tolerance to the generations that follow my own.
