Because we love Tim Brown

Donation protected
Timothy Brown

If you’ve met him and you hear his name you’ll smile and instantly have a flashback of Tim surrounded by a host of people roaring with laughter. You will probably have a visual of Tim describing some event by reproducing the body gestures and voices of all involved. You will wonder how does he do this. How does he see our subtle body movements that usually go unnoticed.  You know, those personal quirks we don’t even know exist

Now, if you haven’t had the good fortune to meet Tim, ask someone who knows him to describe him.  Stand back and watch their reaction, there will be an instant smile as they take the journey. The facial expression of joy you witness will let you know they are on their way through the Timothy Brown experience.

 Family

The devotion and love he has for Brandon and Lita are as remarkable as his comedic skills. Again, for those of you that haven’t met Tim, ask someone to tell you about Tim and Lita. You will hear a story of unconditional love, a real-life example of life’s challenges being no match for a dedicated husband. They have a love story where unfortunate events are being overcome by the grace of God and the shear will of love and devotion.  This too is part of the Timothy Brown experience.

Diagnosis

Apparently fate can’t believe this guy handles life like a Boss while keeping his family and friends hilariously on the edge of theirs seats.  Tim has been given another challenge, he has been diagnosed with kidney failure. In 2015 Tim’s doctor informed him that his kidneys weren’t working as well as they should. The next two years have consisted of a regime of maintenance medications, blood pressure and diet management. In March of 2017 Tim’s doctor made the determination that his kidney function had decreased to a point where the prudent course of action was to add his name to the kidney donor list and commence dialysis treatments.

How donations will be managed and distributed.
The donations will be withdrawn from the GoFundMe holding company and transferred to a bank account managed by Stephen Wagner the (Because we love Tim) fundraising coordinator. Stephen along with Team-Tim members Cynthia Kearney, George Brown, Grace Alaman and Jennifer Henton will review all payment requests submitted by Tim Brown to ensure they comply with the stated goal of the Because we love Tim GofundMe campaign.  Once the review process has been completed dollar amounts matching the approved request(s) will be distributed to Tim Brown or the service provider(s). Documentation of all transactions will be maintained by the Team-Tim group and fundraising coordinator Stephen Wagner.

What are the costs related to transplant?
Organ transplant is a very costly surgery. Most people cannot afford transplant surgery without some kind of health insurance. Costs can be divided into two categories.

Medical costs include, but are not limited to:

Pre-evaluation and testing – covered by the kidney transplant program
Transplant surgery – covered by your insurance
Donor organ fees – covered by the kidney transplant program
After surgery tests – covered by your insurance
After surgery  problems – covered by your insurance
Doctor fees (transplant surgeon, anesthesiologist, pathologist, radiologist, etc.) – covered by your insurance

Deductible, co-pays, prescription and non-prescription drugs tend to account for most of your out-of-pocket costs

Other non-medical costs that are your responsibility include, but not are limited to:

Transportation to and from the transplant center
Food and lodging
Lost wages
Child care

Who is responsible for the costs if I have a living donor?
All routine testing, hospitalization costs, and doctor services required for the living donor evaluation are covered either by your insurance or the kidney transplant program. Transplant-related complications are covered by your insurance for at least 90 days or more depending on your insurance.

If you wish to be a Living Donor candidate
Call the Texas Health Fort Worth transplant office at 1-800-411-2443 or [phone redacted] to speak with a transplant coordinator. They will ask you some questions over the phone to see if you are a potential candidate.
