As social entrepreneurship students, we are using crowdfunding techniques learned in class to raise money for our campaign. We were tasked with choosing a nonprofit we felt passionate about, so we selected the Genesis Center North Texas, an organization rooted in faith and aligned with our own beliefs.
Supporting the Genesis Center was an easy decision. This organization creates a safe space for women and children who need a shoulder to lean on. It provides domestic abuse survivors with long-term shelter and services like parenting classes, GED preparation, counseling, medical referrals, and faith-based mentoring. We want to help this nonprofit in its effort to guide these women through emotional, physical, and spiritual healing.
Helping the Genesis Center buy a new point-of-sale system for the Twice Around Thrift Store is our mission. Twice Around is a second-hand shop affiliated with the nonprofit. The shop's proceeds account for 70% of the Center's total funding, making it the Center's primary funding source. Implementing a new system will boost Twice Around’s way of selling merchandise, ultimately benefiting the Genesis Center.
The Genesis Center needs $2,000 to fully fund the new sale system project. We aim to raise a monetary donation of $500, with a higher goal of $2,000. Any funds raised will tremendously help finance the new system, but reaching the higher goal will be a lasting benefit for the Genesis Center and its residents.
