Beatrice Memorial Scholarship Fund

Donation protected
As we approach the 14th we want to reach out for donations to the scholarship fund established in Sisters* name. Our goal is to reach $25,000 by the  end of 2018. This fund will provide scholarships to students attending Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo, who are pursuing education in the nutrition field.  When Sister was 16 she fell in love with nutrition and the massive influence it played in peoples lives. She scoured the country for colleges that matched her passions and quickly fell in love with Cal Poly. While she was at Cal Poly she worked with vigor and joy toward her degree and embraced being a part of the community. She started her career at Cal Poly Chocolates in 2010 and helped turn the enterprise into a profitable program within one year. In this small business she learned to create exquisite chocolates of many varieties. She worked in development and marketing and eventually management. At this time she also became involved in Project Peanut Butter, and in the Summer of 2014 she went to Malawi for three months to work with malnourished pregnant women in order to support them having healthy babies.  All it took was knowing Sister for about 20 seconds before she was telling you how and what to eat to live your best life. She never was pretentious or rude with her advice, but instead it was a constant showcase of how much she truly cared about peoples well being. She believed in the power of food, and that to live the most powerful life, you had to be fueled by the right things.  Sister was diagnosed with brain cancer (Glioblastoma Multiform) in January of 2015. After 6 months of initial treatment and reevaluating life she decided that she would not let a diagnosis stop her from living her life. She went back to Cal Poly, and while on chemo, she completed her Masters in Nutrition. She joined a Dragon Boat team in Morro Bay, and after a few practices she was invited to compete with them (if you have no idea what this is, check it out, it's insane*). She continued to travel, to try new things, to make meaningful and deep connections, to pursue anything and everything she wanted, and to live life as passionately and consciously as she could. On February 14, 2017, surrounded by friends and family, she passed away.  Sister's passion for nutrition and dedication to the program at Cal Poly has led to the establishment of a scholarship fund in her name. We hope to help people who are just as passionate about nutrition as she was. We are immensely grateful for any donation of any size to help us achieve our goal.  We extend all the gratitude we can muster, Her loving and devoted family, David, Edee, Drake and Meghan *You may know her as Beatrice, B, Best Friend, Munchkin, Elaine, Squirrel Nutkin, or any other nickname she was so good at picking up. * Dragon Boat Racing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=filCwPEKaGE
