Hello everyone,

For those of you who don't know Gav, he is a husband, father of 2, a great friend to many along with many other things.

On the 13th August 2020, Gavin was taken into hospital where following an MRI scan, a mass was found in his lower spine.

Gavin underwent major surgery at the Walton Centre 17th August 2020 and the mass which was the size of an egg was removed, however on two follow up appointments on Tuesday 1st September and Thursday 3rd September 2020, we received the devastating news that the tumour was not just a malignant tumour, but one of the most aggressive forms of cancer – Glioblastoma Multiforme, Grade 4 and is incurable.

Glioblastoma Multiforme is usually found in the brain and surgeons/oncologists at Clatterbridge and The Walton Centre have never seen this before (i.e a primary tumour of this form on the spine) and there is very little research surrounding it, therefore very limited answers to our questions surrounding Gavin’s future health and prognosis.

However, given this devastating news, especially after our daughter Daphne was born on he 28th June 2020, we are still full of hope and will continue to seek alternative treatments outside of the NHS and refuse to give up.

After much thought and research, at this stage Gavin has decided against chemotherapy and radiotherapy for now whilst research continues around other alternative treatments and what real benefit and quality of life chemotherapy and radiotherapy will give him.

Gav is currently having treatments away from the NHS to help in his battle to fight cancer which come to approximately £3850 EVERY MONTH and thanks to your donations, this has taken away much of the financial stress.

Where are we now?

Gavin had a scan following his operation in September 2020, which shown that the tumour had been removed, however, there was some microscopic fragments left behind that were to dangerous to remove.

Gavin had a follow up scan on 15th January 2020, where we have recently received the AMAZING news that there has not been 1 cell of growth!! which shows that these alternatives treatments are proving to be a great success and we are making fabulous progress considering GBM4 is so aggressive.

Now we have stopped the tumour growth dead in its tracks we are giving it our all for some more amazing news at Gavin's next scan in April 2021. Thank you so much for being a part of this journey and for your continued support. We wouldn't be where we are today without it.

Loads of love
