My wife, Gwen and I moved to Virginia in 2016 after living 35 years in Minnesota. We decided to retire in a warmer climate and agreed on Gwen’s birth state Virginia. We both work part time and planned to take vacations on occasion. January 2019 Gwen was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer. A quick find we are thankful for however it has taken a lot out of her with the treatments. She was not able to work for three months and both our Sons live in Minnesota. Gwen turned 65 in March so no Medicare was available before then and her personal insurance coverage was limited. She has had 13 chemo treatments with three more to follow. She will then have surgery followed by radiation treatments. To date our hospital/treatments/physician cost are over $150 thousand dollars.
As stated before we work part time; Gwen three days a week and I work every other week, five days. I should note that I will be 69 years old in August so looking for full time work is not a possibility. We have both been very healthy people so this has been unexpected. We continue to give God the glory and would appreciate any financial help to get us through.
