Beacon of Hope -Cherie COVID fund #cheriebreathes
On behalf of our dear friend, Cherie Garza, her husband Eirith, and their families, we are sharing their tragic COVID story and asking for your support.
Before becoming ill, Cherie was a healthy energetic 39 year old wife, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. Her tenacity for loving and caring for others is an example for all those she comes into contact with. She is the epitome of an excellent educator. Everyone would want to have a “Cherie” as their teacher due to her humor, life stories, and passion for learning. Throughout her mission travels in various countries around the world, she exemplified a servant-like approach in embracing and serving others. Cherie’s ability to strike up a conversation with anyone and share the love of Christ is truly a testament of her Christian walk.
In mid-July of 2021, Cherie tested positive for COVID 19. On Monday, July 19, Cherie was taken by ambulance to Franciscan Hospital in Munster and admitted to the ICU with COVID pneumonia due to very low blood oxygen levels. Her health continued to decline and on Friday, July 23, she was airlifted to Loyola Medical Center in Chicago because she needed more advanced care and treatment options. On Monday, July 26 her oxygen levels quickly decreased and she was sedated and put on a ventilator during the early morning hours. On Wednesday, August 4, it was decided by the medical team that Cherie needed more advanced forms of support. She was put on ECMO. Her family and friends have been praying for complete & total recovery. At the present time Cherie remains in critically stable condition.
Cherie is known for her generous and giving spirit to family, friends, and complete strangers. She is a wife, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, and a dear friend and she needs your help. The medical bills and inability to work have put a major strain on the Garza family. That is the reason why we are creating this Go Fund Me opportunity.
