Be a part of Pershing Choir's TMEA Story!

Through the hard work and dedication of the 2019  and 2020  Pershing Middle School Women's Chorale, our 2021 choir has been invited to perform at the annual Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Convention in February 2021.  This is a first for Pershing and the first time a middle school choir has been invited from Houston ISD since 1983!

It is part of the TMEA tradition for invited choirs to commission and debut a new piece of music at their performance, which then becomes a published piece for generations of choirs to perform. Pershing's very own creative writing teacher will pen a meaningful text that will then be set to music made possible by your donations. Our journey will be a challenge from the start as we begin the year with six weeks of online learning, but whether we perform at the convention in-person or virtually, we are determined to share this piece of art with the world come February!

This TMEA performance invitation has given us hope in a season of uncertainty, and your contribution will help bring this dream to life. Any funds raised beyond our goal will go toward purchasing sheet music for the remainder of our program in addition to printed programs, uniforms, travel costs (if in-person), etc.
