Be a Candlenights 2019 Star

Candlenights Stars is back for the third consecutive year! Candlenights is all about family, goofs, and giving back to our hometown of Huntington, WV. Since 2017, I've picked a second Huntington-based non-profit organization to help during this season of giving, so that those who maybe couldn't get tickets to the show or want to give a little extra can continue to help us help our home! This year, I've picked an organization close to my heart that I have been volunteering for this school year, CONTACT 24 Hour Rape Crisis Center. Their services are unknown to so many citizens of our area, and I want to raise awareness for all the good they're doing, as well as give back to them to help them continue to grow their influence and reach of services. To be a Candlenights Star, as always just make a donation of at least $5, and your name will be written on a star to be displayed on the Candlenights stage! Whether you'll be at the show in person or in spirit, your name and support for our community will live on throughout the evening. So, come join our family in giving to our small town this season of giving, and a joyous Candlenights to you and yours!

More info about CONTACT: CONTACT Rape Crisis Center provides free and confidential support services to adults and children who have experienced sexual violence – rape, child sexual abuse, or stalking – in a six-county area of southwestern West Virginia.  CONTACT advocates in Cabell, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, Mingo and Wayne counties provided over 2600 services to 662 people over the past year. CONTACT is a non-profit community agency completely supported by donations and grants.

1. I'm Rileigh Smirl, and I'm from Huntington, WV. I work as a volunteer advocate for CONTACT, and I am a podcaster, hosting "Still Buffering" weekly. 

2. Every year, we host a fundraising initiative to benefit a local nonprofit in our community, this year I chose CONTACT because I just started volunteering for them, and I believe they are an amazing and deserving organization. 

3. The funds will be given directly to the organization to use as they see fit, including awareness events they may host, services they are able to provide, and items they can have on hand to distribute to victims who are seeking their services and help.

4. Through organizing this campaign on behalf of the organization, the funds will be sent directly to them, and the campaign will end at the end of this calendar month.
