So I feel weird doing this but I will set my pride aside for the sake of my pup. Here is how the story goes:

Four and a half years ago a little bull doggie named Lily was being abused by her owner and needed to be rescued. At the time, I had just been medically disqualified from collegiate soccer and was looking for something to fill the void in my life.

Even though my mom never let me have a dog growing up, when I called to tell her about Lily she wisely said, "this is a lot of responsibility, yet I think she will be good for you". My mom had no idea how true those words would be. The day that little Lillers arrived in my life was the same day we found out my mom would be leaving it -- my mom's cancer had returned and my time with her was limited.

So yes, I rescued Lily. But more importantly, Lily rescued me. She brought laughter and joy to my family when we needed it the most.

About three weeks ago Lily fell acutely ill. She became severely anorexic, vomitted every time she drank water, and was running a high fever. I took her to the vet with the hopes of a quick fix but got the exact opposite -- a medical mystery. She has been hospitalized 3 times, been on numerous medications, and potentially diagnosed 5 times (pancreatitis, cancer, Lyme disease, Cushing's, a systemic fungal infection) to no avail. The only sure thing is that Lily has developed aspiration pneumonia, which is making it difficult for her to breathe.

Lily needs to be hospitalized again to clear the pneumonia and solve the mystery of her illness.  Unfortunately, I have exhausted my funds caring for her over the past three weeks.

I am writing to seek your support in helping get Lily well again. Any amount you can give to help Lily would mean the world. I am indebted to this pup for the happiness she gave me in a time of despair -- there are no words that can adequately express my gratitude to those of you who can help.
