Medical Fund for Christopher

Donation protected
SECOND UPDATE: He was able to go home today. He still hurts, but it’s a healing hurt and this time it will get better. Now that he understands what was done he’s much better able to deal with it. Thank you all for your prayers and support. It means so much to all of us.

UPDATE: On June 16 he was able to get surgery to remove the stone(s) and the stent. He’s recovering, but it is still very painful. We’re hoping this subsides quickly. He was not told what his copay would be, but at least SOMETHING was done. We will figure out the rest as it goes. If you can donate a little to cover these upcoming bills it would help a lot.
Thank you all who have donated. We are all so grateful for your outpouring of caring.

Our son, Christopher Hackbart, has been struggling for over two years with recurring kidney stones. As a result, he has lost time from work, gotten behind on his bills, and been in nearly constant pain.

Over six months ago, he found out that one of the stones had grown so large that it cannot be passed. It will continue to grow and roll around in his kidney causing damage and pain. In April, he found out that it is now 12mm, roughly ½ inch in size – and growing. Since then, he has been in the Emergency Room six times and admitted twice for severe kidney infection and pain. In early April, a stent was placed to keep the urine flowing from the kidney to the bladder. The problem is that this causes him to pee almost pure-blood all the time and continual pain.
He used to have a job that paid well enough to pay his bills; when he could work, there were no insurance benefits. He has since gotten a different job, and was even promoted, that has insurance benefits that he enrolled in. Those benefits started May 1. He was scheduled to have a lithotripsy (stone blasting) procedure last week after the insurance was in place. The day before the procedure, he was informed that he needed to pay almost $6000 upfront before the procedure was done.
Consequently, it was canceled. That isn’t even his maximum out-of-pocket expense. He’s going to need to pay for medications as well, and he’s missed work. Because of all of this, he’s getting behind on his bills.

We know that everyone has their challenges, and we have helped as much as we can. It pains me to have to ask, but if there is any way that you could donate, even a little bit, to a young man who is trying really hard to live life on his own and keeps getting beaten down by the ongoing pain and health issues plaguing him it would help.

He NEEDS to have this procedure to keep the stone from causing further damage to his kidney. If he can’t get it done, he may lose that kidney forever. Our goal is $10,000 to cover all of his possible medical expenses and some of his monthly bills that he won’t be able to pay while he’s out from work.
Thank you all for your time and consideration.
