Colin Woodyshek Technology Center

It’s been a little over a year since we lost our little warrior, Colin James Woodyshek. Not a second goes by that we don’t think of him. Our hearts ache for him. We miss his yummy big hugs, his sweet childlike voice and those big brown teddy bear eyes. He was the center, the heart and soul of our family and the void we feel is immeasurable.

But as a family, we must move forward to honor and cherish our boy’s memory. His strength. His fighting spirit. His love of life. Everything he represented in his 14 short years not only inspired us, but all who knew him.

One thing everyone knew about our Colin was that he LOVED his gadgets, tech and toys. You could find him snuggling his beloved stuffed animals or lining up his treasured trains just about every day. Playing video games brought him endless hours of fun, but it was his massive DVD collection that was his pride and joy. With his headphones on, ipad in one hand, remote in the other, he would watch and re-watch his favorite movies to his heart’s content (end credits and all).

Another thing Colin loved (believe it or not) was going to school each and every day. He enjoyed going to class, learning new things and hanging with his pals at the Palm Beach School for Autism. With the love and support of his teachers, he thrived and flourished. The school did wonders for him and continues to better the lives of Colin’s peers.

With our angel by our side, we’ve established a foundation, B COLIN STRONG, honoring our boy and all the things he loved. Our mission is to continue Colin’s legacy of strength, love and courage. We’re beaming at the notion that our first order of business marries two of Colin’s great loves – technology and his school.

The Palm Beach School for Autism is planning to open a new 10,000 square foot facility called Project NEXT, a transition academy program focused on job training, independent living, health and wellness. Our foundation, B COLIN STRONG, is raising $50,000 for the funding and naming of the technology center at the facility. The Colin James Woodyshek Technology Center is where students will receive technical training and learn the necessary skills to be as independent as possible. Our pledge is to equip the center with computers, TV’s and all electronic needs. This will be Colin’s legacy and we are committed to making the technology center the pulse of the new campus.

The Colin James Woodyshek Technology Center is a place where we can keep Colin’s memory alive. Please help us by donating to his school and investing in the future of kids just like him. Even the smallest donation can make a difference and help us in achieving our goal.

We know Colin is smiling down on us, giving us a "thumbs up" and guiding us every step of the way. He thanks you. We thank you. For this touching tribute and for your continued support these last few years.

With deepest gratitude and love,

Mike, Diane, Mikey, Taylor and Angel Colin
