OCS Basketball Court Restoration

Hello! My name is Josh Merchant. I am the PE teacher at Oaxaca Christian School. OCS is a private, independent school for missionary families located in Southern Mexico, Oaxaca. The primary purpose of the school is to support the educational needs of English-speaking missionary families in and around Oaxaca, Mexico, who want their children to be educated in English, and prepared for university in the United States.

OCS needs a new basketball court. Unfortunately, the costs for a complete replacement would be a huge fundraising endeavor. Instead, we are looking to repair the court, in order to make it safe and more useful for the kids. There are many places where the concrete is very uneven, creating dangerous trip hazards where the children play and participate in PE class. It is severely cracked, and has many areas that are low, which retain water. The backboards are made of wood, and are warped and falling apart. Also, the court is in need of resurfacing paint, as well as new lines.

The money raised will only go for purchasing supplies needed to make the neccessary repairs. I will be doing the majority of the labor involved in the repair. Although, some parts of the court will need to be repoured with new concrete, which we will need to hire out. OCS is a small missionary school with a limited budget. So, this project cannot be completed without the help of others. Our goal is to be funded, and have the court repaired by the end of summer 2016.
