So, why Bayou Babies?
Millions of Americans call the Bayou home. A mystical land where cuisine and culture intersect, the Bayou is home to saints, swamps and southerners who are big on FAMILY. As the creator of Bayou Babies, I was eager, in 2012, to establish a wholesome entertainment company that focused on children doing everyday things, along the lines of classic movies and TV shows like Pippi Longstocking and The Little Rascals, but with a focus on Southern culture. Bayou Babies The Movie, which is based on my book Really Cookin’ (2013, The Write Creole) aims to reinforce family tradition and place meaningful value on family and friends. There are few media outlets today combining entertainment and education with a focus on the Southern experience. Our simple mission is to “Bring the Family Back Together.”
Crew Bayou
The filming of Bayou Babies will take place in September and October of 2014 in southeast Louisiana. Author Charles Foster Jolivette makes his directorial debut in this feature film slated for a Fall 2015 digital and regional release (national distribution pending). Charles Foster Jolivette, a San Francisco native, has been heavily influenced by the several generations of Louisiana natives in his family that migrated to California in the 1950’s. Charles began his career in writing shortly after he learned to walk, penning letters to Maya Angelou at 8 and meeting famed, international music icon Tupac Shakur a year later. As an industry insider, Charles has had the honor of working with Dick Gregory, Michael Franti and Paul Mooney. His books include Étouffée, Le Midnight Roux and Bayou Babies Really Cookin’.
