I’m guessing you are either a friend or a family member of this beautiful family. If so, thank you for your support, love, and prayers! For those who are either colleagues or visitors, please allow me to introduce to you the Coronado family!
Armando and Cassandra Coronado have shared 17 wonderful years. They often tell others that they have been blessed to have lived 3 lives and are now working on their 4th. Their 1st life was before they met, as they lived a journey of self-discovery. Their 2nd life was about sharing their world. In 2016, they got married and became best friends for life. Their 3rd life happened when they adopted their only Son, Titus, in 2018.
When Mando and Cassie adopted Titus from the Colorado Foster Care System, they thought that the first few years were going to be their toughest moments in life, helping Titus conquer his past trauma.
Then, on March 1st, 2023, Armando was laid off from a company that he loved working with. He said, “Losing my job was like losing a bit of my life’s purpose.” Armando is a project manager and business consultant who supported mid-sized to Fortune 500 clients in various industries. He also helps small businesses gain leverage by providing customer experience consulting services. “This was the first time I had experienced a layoff. I thought my stress was at an all-time high, looking for a new job so that I may continue to support my family financially.” Cassie did an amazing job supporting the family during this difficult time and like most mothers out there, she played the role of Super Mom! Armando continues to look for employment and stays optimistic.
In May 2023, their lives changed forever. Cassie was diagnosed with Stage 4 Rectal Cancer, and it had spread to her liver. This came as a complete surprise to the family, as Cassie wasn’t experiencing symptoms. “It felt like a punch to the gut!”
Cassie is a loving mother who spends most of her day worried about her family. Like all other Super Moms, Cassie is proud of her work ethic. She devotes 8 + hours a day to her employer and gives them 100% effort each day because she cares about the people she impacts - both internal and external customers. After her shift ends, Cassie enjoys dinner time with her family. It gives her a chance to check in with her husband and son and learn about their daily adventures. Cassie is also a dog mom who enjoys taking the little ones out for a walk, giving them treats and putting cute clothes on them. With the little time she has to herself, Cassie spends it cleaning the home because she says, "A clean home keeps my spirit happy." She also enjoys watching movies and working out with her family. "She is strong and filled with love. She is the most generous person we know, who is always looking out for others. She has a funny sense of humor and is our hero. We are so proud of her and blessed to have her be our super mom!"
Armando is struggling with how he can support his family and his wife, “Me, not able to support my family financially and scared to lose the one person in my life who has never given up on me. Scared to tell our son, that his mother, the person who showed him how to love again, is now #BattlingStage4Cancer.”
Cassie is devastated and at times feels responsible for the added stress to the family, “It’s hard to be the one with cancer because everyone looks at you differently. They no longer see me as the strong, beautiful person I am, but now see me as the person who has cancer. I don’t want you to see me as helpless, I want you to see me as the strong and beautiful mom who is going to #KickCancersAss.”
The family has decided that they will use both conventional and naturopathic medicine. Cassie has started Cancer Treatment (Chemotherapy) but has also changed her diet radically. After learning about how Cancer survives and absorbs 5 times more glucose (sugar) than healthy cells, she will be on a strict Keto diet and will be fasting intermittently throughout her treatments.
