Batteries needed!

We are a house full of girls (Lexie, Heather, Paula, Christa, and Callie) that have given up their jobs in the states for some kind of ministry work in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.  Each of us holds a different volunteer job within a few different organizations in Haiti. These range from nursing, to graphic design, teaching jewelry, discipleship, and school teaching.   We are all here on the financial support of friends, family members, and churches back in the states.  Because we are living here off of support it is difficult to come up with funds when the unexpected happens.......


We are in need of new batteries for our house.  Here in Haiti, city power is typically only available for about 6 hours a night, during those hours batteries the size of a car battery are being charged up so that when city power is off during the day we still have a power source to keep things running. Years of wear and tear, rain and extreme sun and heat have caused our batteries to no longer work for us.  Without our batteries we have no power source during the day to keep our refrigerator running, no running water for showering, and fans to keep cool during the hot days. We had an electrician come to check the batteries this week and he recommends we replace all of them at once.  This puts a financial burden on the monthly support we all receive and we are in need of 16 new batteries and they are around $200 US each.  With the cost of labor, supplies, and a shelter to be built to protect the batteries from the elements and hopefully increase their use we are in need of $4000 to replace our batteries and have power restored to our house again.  Please pass this along, pray, consider donating, and click on the links below to see the organization we are working with and some of the blogs we write about life in Haiti.
