Hello friends! As most of you know I've worked hard over the last 2 years to stay upright, independent and mobile, probably annoyingly at times to those of you offering generously to help me!
I have the best life imaginable. I have a home, two wonderful children, and am surrounded with the best friends, family, and support system both locally and across the U.S. My cup runneth over with love and support and for that, I am thankful.
Yet…Life is fragile and things can change in a moment.
This coming April will mark my my 33rd year living with Multiple Sclerosis. April, 2017 I was getting ready to take the most incredible trip to visit my daughter in Livingstone, Zambia, Africa. Now, a little over a year later I find myself facing life-altering progression of my disease. March 1st, 2018, I determined it was no longer safe for me to drive a car. That in itself is very humbling at 56 years old. With the help of friends, family and the two best kids in the world, I'm learning how to navigate life with the help of others. That's a little bit of my backstory and I hope it provides insight into my current life process and my reason for this message.
I've started this GoFundMe campaign to ask for financial help to modify my shower. I am no longer able to physically lift my legs over the 9 inch high lip into the shower stall. At this point it is an urgent safety need to transition to a shower with a small threshold that can accommodate a secure shower stool and handlebars.
After reaching out to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, I have greatfully received 2 grants in the amount of $1500.00 and $250.00. This $1,750.00 amount will cover almost half of the $4,000 bid to put in a prefabricated shower stall, readjust the plumbing, add hand bars and add a sturdy chair. I am very grateful for those two resources and the assistance they have given me.
However, I am still I need of the $2,200 to make this happen. Any financial support amount that you can give would be extremely appreciated.
It’s my goal to have the funds raised by September 30.
