As many of you may or may not know our good friend and fellow Aggie, Jason Valmont, was born and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Affectionately known as "Vally", he moved back to his hometown after graduating from NC A&T in 2011. Following the passing of his beloved mother, Judy Valmont, Jason and his father Jimmy focused their attention and efforts on the development of Lake Charles in Judy's honor. Through their family company, they have dedicated numerous resources and time towards the advancement of the city and its rich history. They have never asked for anything in return. Jason has been this way since the majority of us met him in the late 2000's on the campus of NC A&T. He has always wanted everyone around him to fellowship and create lifelong memories regardless of their economic background. He always ensures that those around him feel his love and generosity through his giving efforts, and never boasts about what he does for anyone or asks for anything in return.

In the early morning hours of August 27, 2020, Hurricane Laura, one of the most powerful storms in U.S. history completely ravaged Lake Charles and destroyed Jason and Jimmy's home while also delivering significant damage to their family company that has helped give back to the city for years. As the rebuilding begins, the reality of the amount of work that is needed to rebuild Lake Charles seems insurmountable. Although, in typical Valmont fashion, Jason and Jimmy are ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work.

We titled this fundraiser #BAPLakeCharles, As Aggies we live by a mantra simply referred to as "Bless All People"  and that is what we know Jason and Jimmy will do. This fundraiser is to assist them as they assist their hometown with any rebuilding efforts that are not covered by insurance companies. Additionally, we want them to be able to provide displaced residents of Lake Charles with non-perishable items. We want this to simply be a "love token" or a gesture of gratitude. We also want this to be a surprise for Jason so please try to share this as discreetly as you can. We didn’t know at what number to set the goal, but what we do know is that we can come together and far exceed this goal! Please help with whatever you can! Whether you knew Jason or not, we all know what has been done to the City of Lake Charles and we all know what can happen when Aggies exhibit true AGGIE PRIDE! There is no amount that is too small. Thank you all for your time and consideration. God Bless You!
